From Nahla's Halal Kitchen

From Nahla's Halal Kitchen

With the aim of promoting halal food and raising awareness of its importance, the women and girls involved in the Women's Council of the Sisak Islamic Community (MIZ Sisak) "Nahla" developed and prepared the first halal cookbook in Croatia, entitled From Nahla's Halal Kitchen. The cookbook was published by the Centre for Halal Quality Certification. In terms of its characteristics, halal food is fully consistent with modern principles of a healthy and balanced diet: eating healthily, regularly, moderately and diversely. The cookbook features more than eighty recipes from both traditional and modern cuisine, created by the authors themselves or enriched with their own ideas. Its uniqueness and value were further enhanced by the contributions of two expert reviewers, chefs Goran Raguž and Nihad Mameledžija. "The cookbook offers a wide variety of dishes, from starters to main courses, from soups and pasta to delicious desserts, taking readers on a culinary journey from the flavours of the Orient to those of the Mediterranean," noted Chef Nihad Mameledžija.

Halal – A Standard Tailored to People

Halal – A Standard Tailored to People

A unique book in the region, Halal – A Standard Tailored to People, written by Associate Professor Aldin Dugonjić, PhD.

The book begins by explaining the concept of halal and exploring the meaning of halal products and services, bringing the subject to life through practical examples from the food, cosmetics, tourism and hospitality sectors. Informative and educational, the book offers valuable reading for anyone interested in learning more about halal, while also serving as a useful and practical resource for businesses developing their operations and creating additional value for their customers through halal products and services. How and why is the halal market developing, and what are the challenges and prospects facing it? What role does halal play in certification and standardisation? How does halal affect factors that are important for economic growth and development? And does halal contribute to Croatia's exports and tourism, and if so, how? These are just some of the questions addressed by the author in this comprehensive exploration of halal, which also provides a particular focus on the Croatian context. "The halal market is often perceived as being relevant only to countries where Muslims constitute the majority of the population. However, due to the growing Muslim population and increasing awareness of the health, safety and quality aspects of halal products, it has become one of the fastest-growing global markets and should be approached accordingly."
