Third plant of the Croatian Sugar Industry also certified.

Zagreb, 22 December 2020 – The Croatian Sugar Industry d.d. was awarded a halal quality certificate for its newly added plant in Osijek by the head of the Centre for Halal Quality Certification, Assistant Professor Dr. sc. Aldin Dugonjić.

The certificate confirms that the Osijek plant has effectively established an internal quality assurance system in accordance with the requirements of the halal standard.

On behalf of the Croatian Sugar Industry d.d., the certificate was received by the President of the Management Board, Željko Zadro, who expressed gratitude for another successful collaboration, emphasising that the new factory has now become part of the halal story and expressing hope that the obtained certificate will ensure greater competitiveness in the markets.

“Šećerana Viro d.d. is one of the first companies in the Republic of Croatia to be certified according to the requirements of the Halal standard, and with that we began a successful halal story. With today’s awarding of the Halal certificate, we are pleased that, in addition to the existing ones, the newly joined plant in Osijek is also joining the halal quality system, and we hope that this additional confirmation of quality will help you successfully meet the challenges that the sugar industry is currently facing,” concluded Dugonjić.

The Croatian Sugar Industry d.d. was established in December last year through the merger of three Croatian sugar factories – Tvornica šećera Osijek, Viro tvornica šećera, and Sladorana – thereby combining their production capacities, knowledge, and business experience. The mission of this company is precisely the production of top-quality sugar, which this certificate, along with numerous other awards and recognitions, confirms.

The economically sustainable operation of the Croatian sugar industry is also a guarantor of the preservation and continuation of the strategically important production of sugar beet in the Republic of Croatia.
